Before the premiere of "The Vampire Diaries'" sixth season on October 2, fans were given a hint on what they could expect on series' first episode, Christian Post reports. According to the show's executive producer Julie Plec, the pilot episode will be entitled "I remember."
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) died in the previous season's last episode, leaving fans in shock and disbelief as the two are main characters of the show. Plec, however, revealed that the two will be returning in some form or another in the new season.
The showrunner said in an interview with TVLine that it will take some time for Damon and Bonnie to get used to where they currently are.
"They'll be aware that they're no longer where they thought they were-but they're not dead, per se. They'll be asking a lot of questions, along with the audience, including: What's going on? Where the hell are we? And how do we get home?" Plec shared.
Plec also addressed rumors that Elena (Nina Dobrev) will seek to reunite with Damon.
"I'll just say that I think it'd be super sad for a young woman in her vibrant, early years to take her life and die on the sword for the love of a man. As much as I am a romantic and believer in true love, I also believe in therapy and trying to pull yourself together and getting on with your life," the executive producer answered.
Plec also gave details on how Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena are coping with the demise of Damon.
"She's [Elena] trying, but I won't necessarily say she's succeeding," she said.
"Stefan has made some very big choices about how he wants to live his life in the wake of his brother's death. That's part of the first round of reveals of where the characters are."
In other reports, it is suggested the possibility of Damon developing an "intense connection" with Bonnie. The two characters had romantic connection in the books, but in the series, the two hated each other. Plec hinted that the two could become close in the next season, but she revealed that a future romance would depend on the on-screen chemistry of the two actors playing the characters.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will air on Oct. 2 on The CW.
