Nepotism is a way of life in Hollywood. You get in big, you do favors for those you're close to. No big deal, right?
Well, that's what's just happened to Toni Garrn, a supermodel who's just secured her first acting role in the indie feature "Under the Bed." And the reason she's gotten that role is because Garrn's boyfriend, Leonardo DiCaprio, also happens to be producing "Under the Bed," a fact we've learned from a new report in Variety.
Funny how that works out, huh?
"Under the Bed," written and directed by Daniel Myrick, is the story of a woman who's suffered a recent romantic breakup, and is trying to recuperate. However, unbeknownst to her, she's being stalked on social media by a nasty figure- who also happens to be hiding inside her house. Under the bed, presumably.
The story is based on true events, although it's not clear just what "true events" Myrick used for his screenplay.
Garrn won't be starring in the pic, however. She'll just be playing a supporting role; we know from The Hollywood Reporter that the film's real star is Hannah New, one of the leads on "Black Sails" the Starz TV series about pirates that's being executive produced by Michael Bay.
The film will begin shooting in early August.
This is definitely not the first time that Leonardo DiCaprio has used his considerable star power to give a lady friend a boost. Thanks to Fashion & Style, we also know that supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Bar Rafaeli both decided to launch an acting career while romantically involved with DiCaprio, while Erin Heatherton began acting just after splitting with the "Wolf of Wall Street" actor.
Is it something in DiCaprio that makes his girlfriends want to get into the acting game? Or is he pushing them in that direction specifically? Who knows- the only thing we know for certain is that as long as DiCaprio continues to date, there will be an influx of exes joining the Hollywood world.
