“X-Men: Apocalypse” Rumors: Professor Xavier Possibly Dies; Archangel, Holocaust, Exodus, and Selene as 'The Horsemen Of Apocalypse'

"X-Men: Apocaltypse" director Bryan Singer and scribe Simon Kinberg gave fans clues on what to expect in the highly anticipated installment of the franchise, Enstars reports. The two teased that the upcoming movie could possibly feature a storyline from the original comics.

A photo on Singer's Instagram, showed the director seated beside Kinberg and writers Michael Doughtery and Dan Harris along with computer screen showing an artwork from the "Age of Apocalypse" comic books.

The "Age of Apocalypse" comics revolve around Legion (Professor Xavier's son) time travelling with the goal of killing Magneto. The character, however, travelled back to a time when Magneto and his father are still friends. Legion vanished while Xavier died trying to save his friend, Magneto.

These events changed history and a new time-line was made, with only Bishop knowing about it. Bishop is a time travelling mutant who has been following Legion.

Rumors that the next X-Men movie will feature this storyline made better sense knowing the plot of the previous film, "X-Men: Days of the Future Past." In the movie, Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Xavier (James McAvoy) are still friends.

Also making the speculations more concrete is the fact that the two actors are reportedly returning for the film. "Bishop," was previously featured as a main character in the previous movie, as well.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that the next installment will feature the "Four Horsemen." According to KDrama Stars, four new characters are set to be the "horsemen." Reports claim that these characters are Archangel, Holocaust, Exodus, and Selene.

Archangel appearing in the next movie has been consistently reported, with Ben Foster allegedly reprising the role.

Kinberg was asked about Archangel's possible appearance. "I would say in terms of making any character decisions on 'Apocalypse' is, we set back the clock on 'Days of Future Past,' so a lot could have changed from that point in 1973 forward, meaning people could have been born earlier," Kinberg answered.

"The whole world changed after those events. Things that were represented even 'X1' and 'X2' and 'X3' wouldn't have happened in quite the same way," Kinberg added.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
