Mariah Carey has officially gone through a divorce, and fans of the "Elusive Chanteuse" can relax that it's not with husband Nick Cannon. Despite rumors about the couple splitting up, Carey actually have seprated ways with her long-time producer Jermaine Dupri, New York Times' Page Six confirmed.
According to sources, the diva decided to part ways with Dupri after the disappointing sales of her latest album "Me. I Am Mariah . . . The Elusive Chanteuse." The duo had been working for more than two decades, with Dupri credited for Carey's successful foray into R&B. One music insider said about the split, "When you're working with one person for so long, and you're not selling any records, it's time to make a change."
Meanwhile, the "America's Got Talent" host and the "Butterfly" singer could not escape media attention about the status of their marriage, according to Classicalite. Rumors about the couple's purported impending split came after Cannon admitting to sleeping with Kim Kardashian during his interview with Howard Stern.
He told the radio host then, "She doesn't care when I talk about our sex life, because our sex life is amazing. She's one of the most beautiful women in the world. But ... when we bring up -- I'm not gonna do it -- other people's names, she's like, 'Why would you even do that?' She took it in a way almost as if I was including her in the conversation. We weren't talking about her (Kardashian). The most amazing sex I've ever had is with my wife,"
On the other hand, Celeb Dirty Laundry said that the couple's troubled might have been because of Carey's diva antics. The gossip rag also said that Cannon must be looking for a different image other than being known as "Mrs. Mariah Carey" considering that he has been successful also as a producer.
An interesting hint that the site has pointed out is that Cannon has always said that he puts "his kids first" and not his family, which includes his famous wife. It was this statement could have contributed to the growing speculation that the two are heading for divorce. Cannon did not help quell rumors when he issued a "no comment" response when asked about it.
