Moto G offers an excellent range of specs. However, like other smartphones, it does have its shares of issues. Here are some common problems and fixes to help users maximize their Moto G units.
Dropping WiFi Connection
This is another problem that isn't exclusive to the Moto G, but is one of the most complained-about issues online. Before tweaking the phone, restarting the WiFi source (if the user has access) or restarting the phone and clearing the cache should help. If the problem persists, checking the advanced WiFi settings may solve the problem. Make sure the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" option is enabled, and "only when plugged in" is unchecked.
Camera Launch Error
Go to Settings > Applications, choose Camera, and click on Force Quit. Clear the cache and clear phone data for the app, and restart the camera. This solves most camera launch problems. Make sure there is enough internal memory for the camera to operate as well.
Performance Limitations
The Moto G comes with 1GB RAM, which should be plenty for casual phone users but not enough for mobile gamers. There's no way around this without rooting the phone and overclocking for better performance, but there is a non-root fix that can help improve the phone speed. Download a task killer to scan for and force quit tasks that are unnecessary, but are still running in the background. This should help improve performance without the need for rooting.
Hardware Creaks and Loose Buttons
Like many gadgets, the Moto G is subject to wear and tear, developing creaky sounds and having buttons come loose with regular use. The best way to avoid this - and to minimize it if the wear and tear has already begun - is to buy a protective case. Do not remove the back of the phone unless necessary, and keep it in a durable case that protects it from falls, bumps and scratches.
The issues discussed above, while common among Moto G users, are minor; the phone itself is an affordable powerhouse. With proper care and enough troubleshooting knowledge, it should last a very long time.
