As director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg teased fans details of the of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," which is scheduled to hit theaters in May 27, 2016, there have been much speculation as to which of the mutants in the past films will be coming back in the future sequels of the "X-Men" franchise.
Actress Fan Bingbing, who played the mutant teleporter Blink in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," has been confirmed to be contracted to appear in the four upcoming "X-Men" films. In an interview with The Star, the actress via a translator, said it took a while for Singer to convince her on appearing in the franchise. She said, "In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it's time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn't refuse."
Aside from the Chinese actress, much of the actors from "Days of Future Past" are expected to take part in the "Apocalypse" film, at least. Moreover, The Collider confirmed that Hugh Jackman is also expected to reprise his role as Wolverine in both the upcoming X-Men films, especially "Wolverine 3." The site also said that "Wolverine 3" and Apocalypse" are to be shot back to back since the standalone film's third sequel is scheduled to be in theatres in 2017.
One rumor that fans had been excited about is the possibility of Channing Tatum playing the card throwing mutant, Gambit. In an interview by MTV at Comic-Con this July, Channing has explicitly said that he was, "Very vigorously. Just Bothering producer Lauren Shuler like crazy", to play the role of Gambit in the upcoming X-Men films.
On the other hand, Kinberg has been very coy about introducing old mutants into the "X-Men" film universe. In a recent interview with MovieViral.com, Kinberg also says that nothing is set in stone and "it could change six months down the line".
