“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 11 Spoilers: Will Meredith go through a lot in season 11 – including the end of her marriage with Derek?; Kelly McCreary and Kate Burton to return in upcoming season

The 11^th season of ABC's long-running medical series, Grey's Anatomy premieres next month and it seems like Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will be going through a lot in the coming season.

The latest spoilers suggest that the speculations of a Meredith-Derek split could be very well true, Christian Today reports. This is after Meredith's uncertainty as to whether she will stay in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital (GSMH) or go after Derek in Washington.

The couple will have to face challenges in their career and relationship in the show's next season. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) was offered a new job in Washington while Meredith will feel as if Derek had had cast her aside. While Meredith will try save their marriage, the event could lead to their breakup.

However, the show's executive producer Shonda Rhimes dismissed the speculations. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rhimes said, "I don't think that it's a marriage-ending argument. It feels very TV for people's marriages to end over easy things or hard things."

Rhimes added, "I actually would like to watch a couple have a hard time in their marriage, and have it not be that that means their marriage is over. There's something really great about watching a couple have a mature marriage where stuff goes wrong, things are hard, and people try to push through it and figure it out."

Meanwhile, Enstars reported that Season 11 will revolve around the relationship between Meredith and Margaret/Maggie (Kelly McCreary,) who is making a comeback on the series. It was revealed last season that Maggie is Ellis Grey's (Kate Burton) daughter from her affair with Richard, making her Meredith's half-sister.

Recently, Pompeo posted a photo on Instagram showing her and McCreary smiling. The photo was captioned, "Sister from another Mister?? @shondarhimes @kmccrearynyc."

Kate Burton will also reprise her role in the upcoming season of the medical drama.

Filming for the 11^th season of Grey's Anatomy is currently underway and the series will be returning to ABC on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c.
