The highly anticipated trilogy-ender "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is featured on the cover of the September issue of Empire Magazine, Enstars reports. The issue has two covers: one that features Smaug, the dragon (Benedict Cumberbatch) while the other shows its rival, Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans).

The covers are being pitted against each other and are dubbed as "Bard vs. Smaug."

The teaser trailer of the "Battle of the Five Armies" was released recently through The Hobbit's official Facebook page, together with the announcement of its release date.

The opening of the trailer shows Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) saying "One day, they'll remember - remember everything that happened. The good, the bad, those who survived and those that did not."

The Peter Jackson movie was previously scheduled for release in July, but it was later announced that the production moved it to the last part of the year.

The last of the trilogy features the end of the adventure of the group of dwarves under the leadership of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage.) His company, together with Baggins, managed to reclaim the land that was once theirs from the grasp of the giant dragon Smaug. However, the dwarves did not expect they will be freeing a more powerful and ferocious creature.

Other than Freeman and Armitage, the cast of "The Hobbit" 3 includes Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Lee Pace as Thranduil, and Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf.

In a recent interview, Bloom revealed that the movie will also show the father-son relationship between his character Legolas and Pace's Thranduil.

A part of the movie's synopsis goes, "As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide - unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance."

The movie franchise is based on the trilogy written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The first two movies were released in 2012 and 2013, earning a total of $2 billion from the global box office.

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is slated to hit the theaters on December 18.
