Fans of the "X-Men" franchise are excited to see some of their favorite mutants and perhaps a number of new faces in the upcoming sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse." Nightcrawler, who was portrayed by Allan Cumming and appeared in X2, is rumored to be returning in the next film, Enstars reports.
In the Marvel comics, Nightcrawler aka Kurt Wagner has superhuman agility, adhesive hands and feet, and the ability to teleport. The mutant lived in the German countryside and was not allowed to socialize with human children. As it turned out in the story, Nightcrawler's mother is actually Mystique.
Kurt joined X-Men but soon became one of Magneto's most deadly agents.
With Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) set to appear in the upcoming movie, it makes good sense that the story might also include Nightcrawler's part. Fans theorize that Cumming might not be reprising the role as the producers might get someone who looks younger.
In other news, Hugh Jackman is set to start shooting his part for "Apocalypse" in summer next year. Simon Kinberg who penned the movie suggested in an interview that the actor would continue playing Wolverine so long as the script is good.
"I think as long as the stories are compelling and the scripts are good, until he is in a wheelchair himself, you will get Hugh Jackman to come back and play Wolverine."
Kinberg also talked about the future of Jackman's character in the movie. "So I don't personally have a contingency plan for him leaving the franchise because I can't imagine him leaving the franchise. I'm building these movies just as I assume I have Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy - I have Hugh Jackman as well," added Kinberg.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jackman could be seen in a more traditional-looking Wolverine costume in the next "X-Men" movie. Future of Marvel posted on Facebook a photo of the said Wolverine costume. The photo's caption reads "Marvel BC has reported that a photo of the alleged Hugh Jackman Wolverine Costume for X-Men Apocalypse has appeared online."
The costume is similar to Wolverine's costume in the comics and on the TV series, which had a hint of yellow and went with the iconic mask. The costume reportedly appeared in the unreleased scene of "The Wolverine," wherein Yukio (Rila Fukushima) gave Wolverine a container with the classic costume inside.
However, no confirmation has been made whether Hugh Jackman will be wearing the traditional Wolverine costume or the modern version.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit the theaters on May 27, 2016.
