Comedian Joan Rivers, was rushed to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital on Thursday after experiencing cardiac arrest, according to ABC News. She was undergoing a surgery in her throat at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic when she reportedly stopped breathing. After receiving a call about a woman who was in cardiac arrest at an Upper East Side clinic, the New York City Fire Department confirmed that the woman's description that they have transported to the said hospital for additional medical attention matched the 81 year-old host of E!'s "Fashion Police."
Sid Dinsay, a spokesperson for the hospital, announced at that time then, "This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to. Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support".
Melissa, Joan's daughter, showed her gratitude to everyone for their continuing prayers for her mother through a statement released by the hospital itself. Her statement read, "I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
Another colleague of Joan Rivers at the E! Network, Ken Baker, tweeted to reassure fans of the beloved diva of her condition. He wrote "Our own lovely living legend Joan Rivers is in stable condition at Mt Sinai hospital ..#LiveFromE."
Rivers is known to be young at heart and refuses to retire. According to USA Today, Rivers has been busy touring and promoting her book "Diary of A Mad Diva." Aside from being overly candid with celebrities' fashion choices on "Fashion Police," Rivers still continues to participate in comedy shows and was supposed to be fulfilling commitments at the Count Basie Theatre. Her schedule at the theater had to be arranged due to her cardiac arrest incident.
