Ever since the unauthorized release of the private photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other stars had hit the Web on August 31, many have been waiting for the actress' reaction regarding the matter. Although her representative has released a business-sounding statement, it appears that there is no need for the Oscar winner to say her thoughts about the deplorable affair.

Reuters said that it has been confirmed that Lawrence's camp has contacted the authorities to investigate in the massive celebrity nude photo leaked that had rocked Hollywood as of late. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has already released a statement that the person or people responsible for the massive leak will be held liable.

In an emailed statement, spokeswoman Liz Mahoney said, "This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."

An FBI spokesperson said, "(The agency) is aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter."

The images were posted first on 4chan, a website that has been dubbed as the "ninth circle of (Internet) Hell" and is known for wild popular memes like Lolcats, the Washington Post said. TIME explained that the perpetrator/s would have most likely done the leak by manipulating the vulnerability of the iCloud's "Find My iPhone" service that caters to users who had lost or gotten their smartphones stolen. Various tech sites has since reported that the flaw in the service has allowed unscrupulous individuals to gain celebrities' passwords to gain access into their personal accounts.

Re/Code said that an Apple spokesperson confirmed that the company is "actively investigating" the issue. Moreover, it has been noted that a security upgrade to eliminate the possibility of any "brute force" service that could gain access to passwords via the iPhone finder service.

Although Gawker said that there is no proof yet whether the iCloud could be really hacked, TIME suggested two surefire ways for people who wish to still live in the 21st century. A two-step verification process is one effectively way to eliminate risks of getting hacked, as there is a likelihood programs would be able to guess personalized questions. On the other hand, sharing compromising photos is also a risky venture, so it pays to keep raunchy content about one's self offline at least.
