Fans of AMC's hit zombie-drama "The Walking Dead" should be keeping an eye on Danai Gurira's character, Michonne, as the character will have an important role in the upcoming season. The new season will feature Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group being in the clutches of the mysterious Terminus people, and Gurira's character is reportedly going to help the group escape.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gurira dished out some major details about the fate of her character in the show's fifth season. The actress revealed that Michonne "yearns for more stability in her life," hinting that there might be some change of direction for the character.
"She really believes that Carl needs something more stable than where they are and what they have been experiencing, but also she's very committed to what has to be done. She's a woman who does what has to be done, so that involves a lot of ferocity," Gurira shared.
When asked for some more teasers for Michonne, the actress said that her character is "on the tip of something" in the season's first eight episodes. She added that the biggest question for the to find answers for is whether Michonne is going back to her old self or will she take a different path despite the trauma that she has.
Meanwhile, the show's executive producer Greg Nicotero told Huffington Post some details about what the fans of the show can expect in the upcoming season. The showrunner revealed that the viewers will see different locations from the comic book series.
"We hit certain milestones from the comic book that are tailored to our show and our characters, and certain storylines that we see in various places through Season 5," said Nicotero.
The production is just past halfway filming the next season's 16 episodes. When asked about how many zombies they are crafting this time, Nicotero answered, "Oh, good lord. I can tell you that in the mid-season finale that we just finished shooting there were upwards of 800 walkers for just that episode. I haven't done the tally yet for this season, but being out in the world it's a little trickier to avoid zombies. When you're in the prison, you have a safe haven. The zombies aren't so much of an everyday occurrence, whereas in this season we're out in the world at some point, so they're there."
Moreover, AMC has released a new video featuring behind-the-scenes footages at the zombie-drama's filming locations.
"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC on October 12 at 9/8c.
