‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 6: Stefan takes a new profession and will he take his relationship with Caroline to the next level?; Paul Wesley reluctant to do Season 7? [SPOILERS]

As the premiere of "The Vampire Diaries'" sixth season is scheduled next month, there's talk goin around about one of the lead characters not returning for the show's seventh installment. Although CW has not announced anything about season 7's casting, many people are speculating that it could be Paul Wesley.

The drama series' producers have not named the cast who has expressed hesitation in doing the seventh season. According to a report by E! News, the show's executive producer, Julie Plec said that "The Vampire Diaries" would go on "as long as the actors want the show to go."

Previous spoilers of the show's upcoming season suggest that Stefan Salvatore will be leaving Mystic Falls to take a new opportunity. Entitled "I'll Remember," the premiere episode of season 6 will show Stefan as he tries to cope with the loss of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Stefan will have a new profession and TV Guide reported previously that Wesley's character will have a new home.

Last July, the actor revealed some details about his character at the San Diego Comic Con panel. Wesley hinted that Stefan will be seen much with the other characters as he will try to look for his brother. He added that Stefan decides to distance himself from everyone else.

"He takes off, he leaves town and he decides that he doesn't want to have any part. We think that he's searching for Damon and Bonnie," the actor shared.

"We think that he's being proactive but in reality he's gone. He's doing his thing and he's completely disinterested, he's apathetic, he's given up," Wesley added.

Meanwhile, a report by Carter Matt report pointed out that fans should also look forward to another storyline involving the brewing romance between Stefan and Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola.) According to the report Stefan-Caroline or "Steroline" fans should find out whether the two will remain friends or they will take their relationship to the next level.

The highly anticipated premier of "The Vampire Diaries" season 6 is scheduled on October 2.
