"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Nene Leaks is joining the cast of the Broadway production "Cinderella." The announcement was made earlier this month by the Broadway show's producers Robyn Goodman, Jill Furman and Stephen Kocis.
Leaks is playing Cinderella's wicked stepmother starting November 25, according to a report by BroadwayWorld.
Leakes will be replacing the current wicked stepmother played by former "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd, who will perform the role from September 9 through November 22.
According to the same report, the RHOA star's stint on the musical will end on January 3, 2015.
After the announcement of her new project, the reality show star took to Twitter to spread the news.
"Have u heard I'm headed to BROADWAY! Check it out here," Leakes tweeted.
The next day, Leakes tweeted a post to congratulate her predecessor Shepherd, and her soon to be co-star Keke Palmer. Her tweet reads, "Congrats 2 my Broadway sisters @KekePalmer @SherriEShepherd on a job well done! See u soon! Sherri come help me with all these lines."
While Leakes is very excited about her upcoming Broadway project, it seems that her "Real Housewives of Atlanta" co-star Kenya Moore is not exactly delighted to hear the news.
In a recent interview with the New York Post , Moore said that Leakes' "attitude" is "perfect" for her co-star's role on the Broadway show.
"It's perfect casting," said Moore. "I don't have a relationship with NeNe. NeNe is on an island by herself somewhere with her attitude."
Leakes later took to Twitter seemingly addressing Moore's comments. "Some people want a response but they will NEVER get it! #dreamon."
According to Broadway.com, the Rodgers and Hammerstein's production will hold its last show on January 3, 2015. The Broadway production, which began January, 2013, will have played 41 preview performances and 770 regular performances at the time of closing.
