The first teaser of the upcoming fourth season of political drama "Scandal" was recently released. As the new season of the ABC series premieres next week September 25, fans already have some clues on what to expect, thanks to teasers and the spoilers that have already been doing the rounds online.
The teaser shows government fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) on a beach enjoying a glass of red wine. Her estranged lover, President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) tries to contact hr through her home and office, but all he gets is the "the number you have dialed is no longer in service" message.
Washington teased fans last month about her character's reunion with Fitz, hinting that her vacation shown in the teaser, would not last long.
Meanwhile, the synopsis released by SpoilerTV suggested that Mellie's (Bellamy Young) personal problems will again be tackled in the second episode. Entitled "State of the Union," the episode will also see a new endeavor for Fritz's right hand man Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry).
A part of the synopsis reads, "In order for Fitz to make the biggest impact with his State of the Union address on gun control, Cyrus sets out to recruit a power couple (Mary McCormick and Josh Randall) who are influential on the issue. Meanwhile, Mellie's personal struggle gets national attention."
Viewers have seen the First Lady face many challenges since Season 3. But from what it seems, things are getting better for the President's wife as their relationship is getting better.
In an interview with Celebified, Goldwyn said "They've been through cataclysmic revelations about each other." The actor noted that their characters' traumatic pasts will help them get to know each other better.
This leaves fans wonder whether Mellie's improving relationship with Fitz will spark conflict between the President and Olivia.
Fans will find out as the "Scandal" season 4 kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 25 at it's new 9 p.m. time slot on ABC.
