Fans of FX's horror drama, "American Horror Story" can barely wait for the premiere of its fourth season entitled, "Freak Show." A lot of spoilers and teasers have already been doing the rounds online, giving fans a hint of what kind of "horror" to expect on the upcoming season.
Showrunner Ryan Murphy already hinted that "Freak Show" could be frighteningly disturbing as it would feature "freaks" of all shapes and sizes. It was also announced previously that the upcoming season will see the return of the Twisty, the evil clown.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy mentioned that the clown, played by John Carroll Lynch, always scares one third of the crew on the set.
"Twisty the clown is a murderous clown and he's furious that the freaks have shown up in a town where he the most evil clown of all time has retired and he's out to make their lives a living hell," the director explained.
"I'm fascinated by the whole clown phobia thing because I personally don't have it," Murphy added. "But whenever we shoot those scenes half the time a third of the crew has to leave because they're so afraid of him."
Meanwhile, earlier this week, FX released another teaser trailer showing a little girl holding the hand of an unusually tall man. The video did not show the top part of the man's body but from what it seems, the character might be based on the scary Internet meme, Slender Man.
In the video, the long-haired girl drops the tall man's hand and stares creepily at the screen without saying a word. The video was captioned "We come in all shapes and guises...#WirSindAlleFreaks."
A report by Fashion & Style noted that the 10-second trailer is enough to make the show appear more unsettling. The website also pointed out that "Creep Show" might have been a more appropriate title.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" stars Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Michael Chiklis, and Jessica Lange among others. Moreover, recent reports claim that Lea Michele could be joining the show as well. However, there were no official announcements made about it yet.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" returns to FX on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m.
