"Transformers: Age of Extinction" already raised the bar in a huge way by including the Dinobots, longtime fan favorites in the "Transformers" series, and robots who can turn into robot dinosaurs (which is just about the coolest thing ever).
Naturally, "Transfomers 5" is going to have to raise the bar even futher. But how? Well, the latest reports indicate that "Transformers 5" might not have any Dinobots... but it might have the Maximals and the Predacons.
The news comes from Enstars, who claim that the next "Transformers" film might take place in space, and would follow Optimus Prime questing through outer space to find the evil beings that Lockdown, the fourth film's villain, was working for (the same rumors also claim that Lockdown would be revived and would continue to hunt Optimus).
But Enstars also adds that two new robot factions might join the film.
Fashion & Style, meanwhile, has the details on just who these two groups are.
One, the Maximals, are like the Dinobots, but turn into robotic animals instead of robotic dinosaurs- gorillas, cheetahs, rats and rhinos. They tend to be mammals in their animal form (hence "Maximals"), but that's not a hard and fast rule.
The Predacons are the opposite- the Maximals are the good guys, while the Predacons are the villains, and typically transform into reptiles and insects as their animal form.
These two factions come from the "Transformers" spin-off "Beast Wars," which has just as huge a following as the Dinobots and would be perfectly suited to another "Transformers" film.
KDrama Stars adds an interesting wrinkle to the story- instead of separate factions, the Transformers we already know from the first four films may transform into the Maximals and Predacons. The site claims, "Have you ever [thought] of Optimus Prime Transforming to a Gorilla, Megatron to a T-Rex, and Bumblebee to a cheetah?"
We haven't thought of that, but now that we have, it's a pretty cool idea.
