Well because the highly-anticipated iPhone 6 media event on September 9, there have been rumors of Apple also scheduling a debut of its newest iPad line. Multiple reports cited trusted KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo, who has said that the next iPad Mini will be released before the holidays as initially expected.
"We previously thought Apple would not release a new version of the iPad mini this year, but we now think Apple will launch an upgraded version with the same form factor," Kuo was quoted as saying.
If rumors are to be believed about the new iPads, Apple is scheduled to release the iPad Mini 3 and the iPad Air 2 on October 21. Just last month, Bloomberg said that Apple was currently planning to begin manufacturing the 12.9-inch iPad by the end of the first quarter next year. The news agency, without naming sources, said that the company has been working hand in hand with its suppliers in developing next-generation "larger touch-screen devices." Bloomberg posits that the strategy was done in order to surpass its growth in the tablet category, which has long been dominated by tablets running on the Android operating system of Google. Google's domination in the tablet category had then grabbing 62% of the market, as compared to Apple's 36% market share.
The Huffington Post mentioned suspicions by pundits, who said that Apple would be mostly focused on the iPad Mini Air 2, and that the only development on the iPad Mini 3 is its design. The iPad Mini is said to be retaining its 7.9-inch retina Display, but will be issued in a thinner version than its predecessor. ValueWalk said that the iPad Mini 3 will also have an improvement in its display, as it will come in in an anti-reflection coating, which will allow users to operate on the tablet in the sunlight. Moreover, it has been suggested that Apple might release a gold edition of the iPad Mini 3, and that both of the new iPads will be equipped with the OS X Yosemite, a feature that would enable users to switch email composition, web browsing and other functions seamlessly from mobile to desktops.
