'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' delayed, Sony introducing three new spin-offs in its place [Rumor]

Superhero movies used to be so simple. Make one, bring in enough box office, and be blessed with a sequel. Now, the superhero game is unbelievably complex- for proof, look no further than "The Amazing Spider-Man" series.

The second film, which was released this year to massive box-office dollars (not as massive as Sony might have liked, but nothing to shrug off), has been greenlit for a sequel. Only, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" has been racked with a series of delays, as Sony continually juggles its schedule to make way for other superhero-based Spider-Man films that might come before it.

Now, thanks to Christian Post, we have an update on this "Amazing Spider-Man" sequel and spin-off fiasco. According to a report the publication just put out, Sony is pushing "The Amazing Spider-Man" back four years, in order to make room for three spin-off films.

Those films would be: "Sinister Six," which would see Spider-Man's many villains team up to wreak havoc on the world (so far, those six villains are likely to be: Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, Doctor Octopus, Rhino, and maybe a returning villain from the first two films).

Then, a spin-off reportedly titled "Venom Carnage," which would finally give the classic Spider-Man villain Venom his own movie. Venom was featured in "Spider-Man 3," back in the first trilogy of Spider-Man films, but many fans consider his character mishandled and ruined by the film. "Venom Carnage" could be a way to right that wrong.

The third and final spin-off (for now, at least) would be a female-led Spider-Man film, most likely Spider-Woman. Fans have been rioting for a female superhero movie for some time, and Sony was the first to answer the call with this in-development spin-off.

According to another piece published by the Christian Post, "Sinister Six" will be the first Spider-spin-off in theaters, with a release date of Nov 11, 2016. After that, it's not clear which films will be in what order, although the rumors claim that "Amazing Spider-Man 3" might be the next one out.

And that next Spider-Man film (the next official one, and not a spin-off, anyway) could be a huge game-changer. The early rumors are that Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy in the first two films, may be brought back to life as some kind of clone.

Here's a quote of Stone's, found in a piece by BreatheCast:

"There could be a- I don't know, there's a whole plotline that could happen that may bring her back."

That would definitely be something new.
