Gina Carano 'close' to returning to UFC, but is not likely to sign contract in time for a match with Ronda Rousey; Will the fight never happen?

By

Gina Carano's UFC negotiations are almost done, but a fight with bantamweight titleholder, Ronda Rousey is slowly looking less likely because of the delays.

Carano herself has expressed her interest to return to the scene, according to Sports World News. However, there has been no rush in finalizing her deal, which could make it tough to get her in line for a fight with Ronda Rousey. Rousey is the current women's bantamweight title holder, shares Bloody Elbow.

Rumors about the two fighting for the title have been going around, and Rousey herself has responded with an affirmative. According to Wrestling Inc, Rousey said, "I would love Gina to be (a title defense), but if not, good luck on her journey."

Furthermore, Rousey spoke about Carano: "She's pretty flawless in my eyes. She changed my entire life."

To further flesh out the possibility of Carano's return, UFC president Dana White is reported to have said that he is confident about the deal and even thinks that it could be done before the year ends. "There's just one more little thing (in the negotiations). It's close, but it'll be done," White stated.

Rousey allegedly expressed her desire to fight on January 3, and for that to happen with Carano as her opponent, Carano's contract will need to be signed soon to give the actor enough training.

However Bloody Elbow also has White saying that there had been some changes in the plans. The UFC president spoke of a post-scrum event after the UFC 177 in Sacramento last Saturday, where he allegedly said that Cat Zingano is "next in line."

According to Sports World News, the final negotiations for Carano's return being delayed may make the anticipated Carano-Rousey less likely. "With other potential opponents like former top contender Cat Zingano and former boxing world champion Holly Holm, an immediate title shot for Carano might not even make sense at this point," think the website.

Blood Elbow recalls that Carano's last fight was five years ago. The fight concluded with Carano losing via TKO to Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino. Following the fight, Carano has shifted to acting and has been seen in "Haywire" and "Fast and Furious 6." The negotiations with her UFC deal may have been delayed because of her acting engagements, adds the article.

Carano, who Breathe Cast says has been ranked as the third best fighter in the world at one point, is also the rumored girlfriend of actor Henry Cavill.
