Teen-lit movies are clearly the next big thing. "The Hunger Games" has crushed the box office with every subsequent film in the series, and now "Insurgent" is poised to do the same.
"Insurgent," of course, is the sequel to this year's runaway success, "Divergent."
And according to Enstars, we may be seeing the first theatrical trailer for "Insurgent" very, very soon. Enstars reports that "Insurgent" may package its first trailer in front of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1," which releases in theaters this November. It's a smart move, considering both film series are young adult fiction aimed at a massive teen audience- chances are, if you're seeing "The Hunger Games," you probably wouldn't mind checking out "Insurgent" either.
What Enstars speculates, though, is that the first trailer for "Insurgent" might not be as enigmatic as recent "Hunger Games" trailers have been. "The Hunger Games," being such a juggernaut of a franchise, can afford to get a little out-of-the-box with its advertising- just look at the recent posters that show the cast painted white on a white background, without any mention of the film's title.
"Insurgent" isn't yet popular enough to take those kinds of risks, so expect a more traditional trailer (something like "The Maze Runner," another YA pic that's just released to an impressive box-office take).
But with the addition of new cast members like Naomi Watts, its popularity may rise even higher. Here's what Watts recently said about the cast of "Insurgent:"
"They're such lovely people," said Watts, later calling the cast "wildly, wildly talented."
If "Insurgent can attract more actors on Watts' caliber, the franchise may just become as big as "The Hunger Games."
Fashion & Style reports that the filming for "Insurgent" is complete, and that the film will be released on March 20, 2015.
