PushBullet, a mobile application and Google Chrome extension that lets users receive SMS and call notifications and reply to text messages through the desktop, released yet an update that will be very useful for its users and for multi-device users.
Their latest update now allows users to respond to SMS messages through their desktop using any texting application.
No More App Compatibility Limit
According to a report by Android Police, the update removes the limit of compatibility of PushBullet with only EvolveSMS. People using the app can now use their choice of text applications. This, according to LifeHacker, includes Android's default messaging app, Hangouts.
Android Police notes that this update comes just a week after PushBullet released an update that added universal copy and paste functionality to their app. The improved SMS app compatibility will be available to users with PushBullet version 14.8.
Aside from allowing users to reply to SMS messages, PushBullet also allows users to push links and media to the phone, relay addresses from computers to Google Maps on their Android device, and create interactive to-do lists and place them in a user's notification tray, allowing them to update tasks live.
Setting Up PushBullet
Android Pit's report of the update includes instructions on how to set up PushBullet on a user's phone and on their desktop. The process is simple: first, users should download and install the PushBullet app on Google Play Store from their Android devices. Next, they need to install PushBullet on their desktops by visiting the developer's official site and following the instructions indicated.
Once installed on their desktop, users may choose to use PushBullet on Chrome (by installing a Chrome extension, also available on Google Play Store when logging in from the desktop), Windows or on their Android device. They will then receive notifications and make use of the other app functionalities discussed above.
