Things will be particularly interesting in "Elementary" season 3 particularly for Joan Watson. Lucy Liu's character will face a nemesis while still coming to terms with Sherlock Holmes' new protégé, Kitty Winter.
According to Fashion & Style, Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) will not be getting along with Sherlock Holmes' (Jonny Lee Miller) new protégé, Kitty Winter, (Ophelia Lovibond). The two are seen in a preview "preparing for a battle of the batons," the article noted.
Ace Showbiz clarifies that Watson and Winter's first meeting happens before the new character is introduced as Holmes' new protégé. It remains unclear what Winter's motivations are, but it has allegedly been revealed by CBS that her "reasons for undertaking Holmes' partnership are nebulous."
Watson was Holmes' protégé before Winter and Fashion & Style says that her entering the scene will "have ongoing repercussions" for the Holmes-Watson partnership.
While Watson is trying to figure out how to deal with Winter, she will also be facing a new nemesis in new character Elana March. Fashion & Style reports that March, to be played by Gina Gershon, will be introduced in season 3's first episode. March is reportedly a socialite, but Watson suspects her of being a drug cartel boss, shares TV Guide's description.
There is also a hint that Watson and March's antagonistic relationship will become personal as it is hinted that March is willing to do anything to avoid prison. Fashion & Style guesses she will be going after Holmes or Watson's new boyfriend, Andrew (Raza Jaffrey).
Winter and March will not be the only new characters to be introduced in the show as Fashion & Style says Phil Simms will be appearing on season 3 as himself. The article says Simms will be in the November 13 episode as Holmes' old friend. CBS considers Simms a "surprising, little known talent" that will join Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer from "The Good Wife," in making an appearance. Gummer will be a New York heiress named Margaret Bray.
