"Arrow" season 3 comes back on October 8 with the episode entitled "The Calm," but things will not be calm for long for the superhero and his team.
Starling City will have an all-time low crime rate at the beginning of the upcoming season, but according to Latin Post, things will pick up soon enough when "Arrow" Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) faces a surprise enemy codenamed Vertigo to be played by actor Peter Stormare.
While his superhero counterpart has found a new nemesis, Queen's normal side will also encounter some problems. Latin Post says that Queen's blooming romance with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) will be in jeopardy so soon after their date. A possible love triangle is in the works with the addition of Brandon Routh's character Ray Palmer, also known as "Atom."
Screenrant specifically says that Palmer's "corporate side" will be messing things for Queen, as evidenced by a trailer showing him as the new head of Queen Consolidated, which Queen lost in season 2. Moreover, Routh has confirmed that most of his interactions will be with Rickards.
Though initial announcement of Routh's character did not talk about his superhero counterpart, according to IB Times, Routh had already confirmed that "Atom" will be donning a suit, though the actor said it will be different from the original costume. "It's a totally different suit and I haven't been in it yet, I've only seen some drawings," Routh said on the DJ Tanner Show. There will allegedly be no cape for "Atom."
IB Times also says that Routh has already filmed six episodes, but have not worn the costume for any of them yet.
Rickards' Felicity Smoak will also be involved with another character, but this time not romantically. According to Enstarz, Smoak will be getting along well with "Flash" character Iris West (Candice Patton). The two could bond because of their concern for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). The article also says that Smoak will be in a good place with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).
