'Fannibals' will have more reason this spring to be tied to their sofas as 'Hannibal' Season 3 unfurls on NBC sometime in Spring 2015. Series creator Bryan Fuller reveals that there will be plenty of twists and turns in the upcoming season, Christian Times reported.
By that, Fuller means that it's going to be bloodier than ever as famed serial killer Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) will not hold any punches.
The Season will tail the lives of Hannibal and his former psychiatrist Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson, and they will be on the run in Europe as Graham (Hugh Dancy) hounds them.
Dr. Lecter and Bedelia will pose as a couple and hide the murderous thirst of Hannibal, but it won't be long before someone discovers the truth behind the masks, reported TV Guide.
'Antipasto,' which is the new title of the series, derives its name from an Italian cuisine. Season 1 was French cuisine, while Season 2 was Japanese.
This is what fuller explains about the title: "If we are being honest, we'll admit that we've never been the biggest fan of the show's food titles. They do not make sense thematically, but it's really hard when discussing the episodes with your friends to pinpoint a specific event from a specific episode. It's the same problem that we have with '24.' At least with this one, you get something that feels almost like an appetizer, which is appropriate since the story is just starting back. Plus, it gives us a clue that we are going more into Italian cuisine this year after spending last year with a Japanese theme."
The creator also shares that Season 3 is going to deviate from its usual crime drama roots. "The interesting thing about Season 3 is that we are heading away from the crime procedural aspect of the story-telling, and it is very much a soap opera for the first half," he told Metro Online.
"There's a slight evolution of the series in that way. The first half of the season I'm really excited about because it's more like an intense psychological thriller. I'm excited about the rematch between Hannibal and Jack Crawford," Fuller added.
Meanwhile, Fuller also expressed his interest to cast David Tennant on the show. 'I'm a huge fan of David Tennant, and we've been trying to get him on the show for quite some time' he said.
'He's such a spectacular actor. He brings such effervescence to every performance.
'I would love to have David on the show. Or just write for David! I would kill and eat somebody to work with David! He's my favourite Doctor,' Metro reported.
