"Longmire" Cancelled Despite High Ratings, Audience is "Too Old"- May Be Renewed at USA

By

It's not good to be A&E right now. The TV network recently cancelled the crime drama "Longmire," and everyone who could possibly be infuriated by this announcement has become as mad as possible.

For one, the audience is in an uproar- not just because their favorite show was cancelled, but because it was cancelled because A&E deemed "Longmire's" audience too old for a successful drama.

Here's what the latest issue of GLOBE magazine reports about the issue (courtesy of Christian Today):

"The cast of A&E crime drama Longmire are crying foul over the show being axed - because it's viewers were too old! Despite high ratings the TV hit was suddenly cancelled after three seasons - and now outraged fans are trying to save it!" According to the magazine's inside source, "the cast [of Longmire] was told that the network is trying to reach a younger audience." Longmire executive producer Greer Shepard was unbelievably angry, telling GLOBE this, "You don't just flush 5.6 million people!"

That's right, 5.6 million. "Longmire" was nowhere near a ratings failure. Just a demographics one.

Celeb Dirty Laundry adds an important scoop- that "Longmire and its producers" are trying to find a new home for their beloved series, and that USA might be the right network. According to their reports, USA is close to making it official, but right now it's still just a rumor.

The cast have been just as adamant about the show's return- cast members, fans, and even the author of the original book have been gathering on Twitter to show their support. Recently actress Cassidy Freeman posted a picture of her dog, claiming that her dog loved "Longmire" too much to suffer its cancellation.

A bold strategy. We'll see if it pans out.
