Showtime's "Ray Donovan" will be back for a third season, with a possible July 2015 premiere for the twelve-episode season.
Christian Post reports that the show's third season is already confirmed, but the premiere date has not been revealed yet. As soon as the second season ended, Showtime released a promo video to confirm the third season, but not with any news on its schedule. However, the site speculates that it might be back on July 2015 because the first and second seasons have premiered around the same time. The cast and crew could also be headed to filming in early 2015 to match that schedule.
Fans cannot expect any spoilers about the season any time soon as Christian Post shares that the script has not been fully fleshed out yet.
However, fans need not be sad. According to Enstarz, the third season will feature 12 episodes, with Hallels reporting that Showtime president David Nevins promised that the show "will be filled with complex and interesting characters to give its audience compelling television to look forward to for season to come."
Hallels also adds that Hank Azaria (Ed Cochran) has hinted of a creepy side being exposed for his character. "Ed Cochran will then strengthen out and root for cleaning up the situation; and ends up being the worse version of himself," says the article. Azaria also referred to Cochran as "definitely not a likeable guy."
Many are also expecting a change from Liev Schreiber's titular character. In the promotional video which is a 20-second compilation of images from the second season, a male voice-over speaks, "You don't know who you are anymore, Ray," describes Enstarz. How this will be presented in season 3 remains to be a mystery.
Jon Voight (Mickey Donovan), Katherine Moennig (Lena), Steven Bauer (Avi), and Kerris Dorsey (Bridget) will all be returning for the show's third season, reveals Hallels.
