"Winds of Winter" theories roundup: Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister will die? Martin says book delay is because of fans being too "intense"

There is still no confirmation on when "Winds of Winter" will be released, but that has not stopped fans of "Game of Thrones" from theorizing about what will happen in George R.R. Martin's upcoming book.

According to iDigitalTimes, a statistician named Richard Vale has come up with a prediction involving the death of characters in the show and books. Vale allegedly used Bayesian predictions, a "mathematical model to determine which POV characters will die." The death of a POV character should not come as a surprise to fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" anymore, as Martin is known for killing them off, even the favored ones. Based on the statistical analysis by Vale, Melisandre, Arys Oakheart, and Aeron Greyjoy might die soon. Meanwhile, Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister may possibly die, but not before getting a few chapters in "Winds of Winter," says the article.

Christian Today reminds that Martin already showed an excerpt of Arya's scene in the sixth book wherein she is shown as an already adept assassin, which could mean her death will not come as quickly.

Mathematical assumptions aside, Hallels reports Martin, along with writer Robin Hobb, had a Q&A event in London in August that cost £45 where it has been hinted that "Winds of Winter" may possibly be released in 2017. Martin also shared that his favorite character is Tyrion, a fan favorite. However, this does not mean that he will get to live until the end of the series. And if earlier theories are right about Tyrion being a Targaryen, his story line will take up some time.

While Martin is not against the theories that fans come up with, Christian Today says that even the author does not know when the book will be finished partly because of this. Martin said through Rolling Stone: "It's a terrific feeling, knowing that you have not only a lot of readers or viewers, but that they're so intense, and bringing so much thought and interest to bear." However, Martin added, "Maybe that's part of what's slowed me down-the knowledge that so many people are looking at every line, and waiting on every turn and scene."
