Charles Dance hints at a possible return for 'Game of Thrones' season 5, Fans speculate the circumstances of his return; Is Tywin Lannister really dead?

It's not over for Tywin Lannister in "Game of Thrones" just yet. The late father of the Lannisters will apparently be returning for season 5, though HBO has failed to issue a statement confirming Charles Dance's claim.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Charles Dance, the actor behind Tywin, said that he will not be out of the next series just yet. "You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I'll say," Dance teased.

However, this poses the question of whether or not Tywin is still alive. Entertainment Weekly considers that to be unlikely, but there are several options for Dance's return. Dance could "appear as a deceased body of his character," the article said.

The actor could also reappear in some sort of memory.

Entertainment Weekly theorizes: "Given that Tyrion is going to be pretty haunted by his actions in last season's finale, my bet would be on some sort of memory, vision or dream sequence-like Daenerys Targaryen had of her deceased lover, Khal Drogo, which brought back Jason Momoa for an additional scene."

Deadline recalls that Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) shot Tywin with a crossbow twice after finding out that his father was having an affair with Shae, Tyrion's lover. Moreover, another possible way for Tywin to come back is through "flashbacks triggered by Maggy the Frog, a fortune teller who is integral to Tywin's daughter, Cersei Lannister."

E! Online expounds, "The fourth novel, 'A Feast for Crows,' reveals Tywin is indeed dead and is given a funeral attended by his other children Cersei Lannister and Jaime Lannister. During the memorial, Tywin's daughter is bothered by her late father's facial expression and also recalls a memory of him being ridiculed in a feast."

Huffington Post even mentions the possibility of having a young Cersei in season 5, which could be an interesting scene to see.

While fans are speculating, HBO has not given a comment yet on the plot of Dance's return just. Whatever the circumstances of Tywin's reappearance are will be revealed once "Game of Thrones" returns in spring of 2015.
