Marquis Teague has been in the NBA for only three years but is now reportedly heading for the second trade deal of his career. The Brooklyn Nets - the team Teague is currently playing for - and the Philadelphia 76ers are closing in on a deal that will send the former Kentucky star to Philadelphia according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Unfortunately for Brooklyn though, they won't get any significant value in return for the young guard in a report by Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report:
Brooklyn is not expected to receive "anything of significance" in return. NBA rules prohibit assets to be traded without compensation, so the likeliest outcome is a conditional or highly protected draft pick or a non-guaranteed contract that can be easily waived.
The 21-year old Teague was the 29th overall pick of the Chicago Bulls in the 2012 draft. His career in the NBA though, isn't particularly that impressive, averaging 2.7 points in 11 minutes per game last season with the Bulls and Nets per Fantasy News. He left Kentucky after an up-and-down career and the Bulls selected him in the draft with the hope that he could blossom under Thom Thibodeau's system and maximize the talent that made him a highly touted prep star.
Unfortunately for Chicago and Teague, their relationship didn't turned out quite as they expected. Teague struggled heavily both in offense and defense and was demoted out of the Bulls rotation and was sent packing to the D-League. He only managed to play 67 games with the Bulls before the team cut bait, sending him to Brooklyn in exchange for Tornike Shengelia.
Teague could find himself buried in the rotation with the Nets who rely heavily on their veterans which means that a trade deal could work well for both parties.
