New MacBook Pro 2014 to be released on Christmas amid problems with 2011 model; How is it compared with July's MacBook with Retina Display and Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro?

MacBook Pro 2014 packed with "cool specs" is rumored to be slated for a holiday release despite problems with 2011 model and the July release of MacBook Pro with Retina Display not faring well against Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro in terms of screen resolution.

According to an article from KpopStarz, the laptop will be featuring some "cool specs and features." While not much is known about the specifications of the laptop yet, but it will allegedly come with a touchscreen feature, something that is missing from July's MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

On top of that, KpopStarz mentions the new MacBook Pro will be having Retina HD Display for "crisper user interface." A new feature called keystacks will also be introduced. KpopStarz explains that the multi-function keyboard with keystacks means the keys are "separate and layered with electronics, sensors and stitches, which allow users to modify the map of the keys to a folder."

It remains unknown whether Apple's MacBook Pro 2014 will be similar in appearance with MacBook Pro with Retina Display previously released in July. Like previous Apple products, the laptop released in July has an aluminum unibody, shares Gizmag.

MacBook Pro with Retina Display has been pitted against Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro hybrid, with Gizmag saying that MacBook Pro with Retina Display loses in terms of heaviness. Lenovo's is thin and light despite their screen sizes being identical at 13.3 inches each, but with different aspect ratios. Lenovo offers 3200x1800 resolution on Intel HD 5300 while the MacBook only has 2560x1600 on Intel Iris. Yoga 3 Pro boasts of 276 ppi, which leaves Apple's behind at only 227 ppi. Even though the two are being compared, Gizmag reminds that the Yoga 3 Pro is also marketed as a tablet, meaning "it needs those extra pixels to maintain that razor-sharp look as a slate."

Being a classic laptop, MacBook does not have a touchscreen, which Lenovo has in Yoga 3 Pro.

Under the hood, MacBook 2014 runs on Intel Core i5 Haswell dual core, clocking in at 2.6 GHz, while Yoga 3 Pro has Intel Core M-70 fanless Broadwell dual core at 1.1 GHz. Lenovo offers its hybrid device with 8GB RAM, while the MacBook 2014 has 8GB and 16GB options.

The announcement of the new 2014 MacBook Pro also comes amid problems with the 2011 model. According to Macworld, as of October, over 20,000 users have petitioned for the failing MacBook Pros to be repaired, but Apple has not addressed the issue yet. The problem allegedly involves system crashes and critical hardware problems. Macworld shares: "The problem, which first emerged in February last year, has escalated throughout 2014 as more and more owners of the affected models begin to experience issues."

Not much is known on whether the problems with the 2011 models remain in the July 2014 model.
