Could a 'Star Wars: Episode VII' trailer be seen by the end of the year?; Original trilogy and prequel composer, John Williams to work on "Episode VII" score

By

Light saber wielding fans of the "Star Wars" franchise currently have the Disney-produced "Star Wars Rebels" TV series to tide them over before the premiere of the highly anticipated "Star Wars: Episode VII" on December 18, 2015, but reports are speculating that a trailer might be in the works and is set to debut by the end of the year.

The news comes from the John Williams Fan Network, who first reported on October 6th that during John Williams' October 4 concert in Milwaukee, the composer revealed that "in about two weeks," he'll be starting to work on the score to "Star Wars: Episode VII." It was previously announced in July 2013 that Williams, who also worked on the score of the original trilogy and prequel of "Star Wars," will be creating the film score for "Episode VII."

20 days after the news was released, the John Williams Fan Network posted another story which claims that a source said that Williams "will indeed record the new music next month in Los Angeles." The post read:

"A reliable source just said JW received a trailer from JJ Abrams on Monday, Oct 20. JW has already written new Star Wars music to accompany this trailer. This new trailer music will feature new music and will be recorded on November 15 in LA with full orchestra. Still determining if the score will be recorded in London due to advanced age of composer/conductor. 14 hour flight to LA not too kind on 82 year old. This is all a secret and this message will be deleted shortly."

Addressing this new Star Wars rumor, We Got This Covered said that while this news is unconfirmed, "it makes sense for Disney to try rolling out a "Star Wars: Episode VII teaser" since Disney currently has "Big Hero 6" and "Into the Woods" coming to theaters this year. The article added that both films are "big enough releases to merit attaching a "Star Wars" trailer."

An opposing view from Screen Crush pointed out that while a December 2015 trailer release is too early, it said that "most films don't begin releasing trailers and stills until seven, maybe eight months out." The article also added that just last week, rumors floated that fans might see the first teaser for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" before the year ends, speculating that it comes attached to "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies." The article said that while it's plausible, they have a hard time in believing in either rumor.

In the meantime, while nothing is confirmed about the trailer, fans of the epic space opera franchise can catch their weekly dose of "Star Wars" through "Star Wars Rebels" which airs on Disney XD every Monday night at 9p/8c.
