Jim Carrey reveals Tommy Lee Jones hated working with him on "Batman Forever," Does the "crusty" "Cobb" actor have a history of disagreeing with actors?

Jim Carrey reveals that "Batman Forever" co-star Tommy Lee Jones hated him at the time of the movie. The "Dumb and Dumber" actor says the reason is his movie making it big while Jones' movie, "Cobb," which came out on the same weekend, did not do as well.

Carrey was interviewed in the Howard Stern Show where Uproxx shares that the star talked about old rumors including one saying that there was some friction between him and Jones on the set of "Batman Forever." The movie where the two co-starred came out in 1995, the same year that Carrey's "Dumb and Dumber" made it big in theaters. Uproxx mentions Carrey's movie grossing $16M on the opening weekend and garnering a total of $247M in its run. Meanwhile, Jones' "Cobb" only made $64,000 on its opening weekend, eventually grossing less than $1M.

Carrey's interview is more than one hour long, but around the 55-minute mark is his words about Jones. As transcribed by Fashion & Style, Carrey began by saying that Jones was "a fantastic actor" despite being "crusty." Carrey proceeded to describe the coincidence of their movies coming on the same weekend and "Cobb's" performance being the reason why Jones "freaked out a bit."

Apparently, Carrey walked into a restaurant where Jones was dining and said hi, only to be met by a surprising remark. As described by Carrey, "The blood drained from his face, in such a way that I realized that I had become the face of his pain or something." Carrey further stated: "He got up, kind of shaking, and hugged me and said 'I hate you. I really don't like you.' And I was like 'Wow, okay. Well, what's going on man?' And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery.'"

Carrey was invited to the show to promote the sequel "Dumb and Dumber To," and when interviewer Stern joked that Jones rated the sequel as zero stars, Carrey's response was, "I hope 'Cobb 2' isn't coming out."

Jones is a recognized actor who has several awards to his name, including an Emmy for "The Executioner's Song." Despite the poor performance of "Cobb" in theaters, Cowboys Indians mentions it impressing critics because of the "sheer fearlessness" of Jones' acting.

However, according to Den of Geek, this wouldn't be the first time that Jones has disliked a fellow actor. The article mentions Jones as having "a reputation as an actor with intensity who doesn't suffer fools."
