Litchfield's biggest bully will no longer return to "Orange Is The New Black." Netflix recently confirmed to Buzzfeed that actress Lorraine Toussaint will not be reprising her role on the show. This confirmation followed after multiple reports by news organizations, including TMZ, said otherwise that Toussaint will actually be returning to "OITNB."
It could be recalled that in the Season 2 finale, Vee was ran over by a fellow escapee Rosa (Barbara Rosenblat), who did it because of an earlier stunt done by the former. Although the show did not exhibit if Vee was safe, it is safe to say that fans though the show was over for the main antagonist of Season 2.
But TMZ claimed that its sources confirmed Toussaint's return to "OITNB," and that the actress purportedly went back to work on Tuesday morning in New York. On the other hand, TMZ said that if in any case, Toussaint can sort of come back even though she is dead in the series via flashbacks.
This was also seconded by the actress herself when she spoke to E! News at the 2014 Emmys. She teased, "I believe she's dead. She's dead. And she's such a survivor, it wouldn't surprise me-I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't dead because I don't have much control over her...she's pretty dead...but it is Vee."
Another character who will be absent in the third season is Pornstache (Pablo Schreiber). He was quoted as saying, "Generally speaking, I get to be present in both shows, which is sort of amazing. I am allowed to do both, which is incredible and I think ABC giving me permission to do that is really quite wonderful...It's too early to tell how it's going to work, but same way as Pablo Schreiber in season two, you can shoot things out of order. Thankfully, I get to do both."
If Vee will not come back, E! News said the show is certain that it will be welcoming new and recurring characters. Lori Petty of "A League of Their Own" fame will reprise her role, while Mary Steenburgen, Mike Birbiglia and "Fringe"'s Blair Brown will also be on the show in new roles.
