After a dynamite first season, the next outing of "True Detective" is one of the most hotly-anticipated shows on television.
There's just one problem- apparently, HBO is having a bit of an issue getting the cast together. Franchise Herald reports that Taylor Kitsch has officially confirmed that he will be a part of the acclaimed detective series' second season- according to them, the actor recently stated the following at an interview with AdWeek:
"I'm really excited. I've just been prepping, It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue."
As well, we already know two major cast members- Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn, but the last key player- the second season's biggest female role- has yet to be cast.
According to Franchise Herald, that role has been offered to Rachel McAdams, but the actress hasn't accepted yet- and Christian Today claims that HBO is so behind on its search for this last lead role that the filming of the second season may have to be delayed. Elisabeth Moss was also considered for the role at one point, but now McAdams is seen as the biggest frontrunner.
That certainly wouldn't go over well with the HBO fans drooling over more "True Detective."
However, the cast is shaping up in other ways. Screen Rant reports that a number of lesser-known actors have also joined the series. Those names include Kelly Reilly, Abigail Spencer, Leven Rambin and Michael Irby. Presumably, that means that everything else is ready to go- HBO is just waiting to cast McAdams (or someone else, even) in the final role.
Hopefully the series can finally get that last lead character and get to filming already- the wait's getting tough, and the more waiting we get, the worse it'll be.
Check back soon for the latest news on "True Detective," and its eventual second season.
