We'd all love another season of "Cosmos," and more opportunities to learn cool science facts from Neil deGrasse Tyson. But would we enjoy "Cosmos" as much if Tyson didn't come back for the second season?
That seems to be the case- back in June, Tyson told TIME that while he enjoyed his time on the show, he might not be willing to come back for a second season- apparently, teaching the world about the galaxy is tough, demanding work.
"We're all flattered that people are thinking [about a Season 2] but it's not clear that this was the kind of content you want to rattle off one year after the next," Tyson said to TIME.
"If some years down the line after my life has recovered, maybe. But I'd like science to be shared by all. If someone else came up and wanted to host it, I don't have any ego invested in the visibility that hosting "Cosmos" brought to me."
That's perfectly fine, but if that's the case, we'd probably need another host. And the fans, according to KDrama Stars, already have one picked out. They're clamoring for Bill Nye, who, along with Tyson, is this generation's leading fun science-teaching celeb.
And just recently, the fans have asked Nye, specifically, to host the show.
KpopStarz reports that a recent question in a Reddit AMA broached the subject, and received a response from Nye.
"I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Why would Neil step down? Neil's a dear friend of mine, so we'd have to take a meeting," said Nye.
It's not an enthusiastic "yes," but it's not a flat-out "no," either. Sounds more like something the two friends would have to discuss (if Tyson is even the one that gets to pick his own replacement, and not Seth MacFarlane and the other execs behind the series.
Check back soon for the latest on "Cosmos" and its potential second season.
