"Sons of Anarchy" season 7 episode 11 "Suits of Woe" shows destruction for both Gemma and Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) as the truth about Tara's (Maggie Siff) death and Gemma's (Katey Sagal) participation in it is revealed. However, Gemma's fate remains uncertain.
Jax learned of the truth about Tara's death through Juice (Theo Rossi), the only witness to Tara's murder, who Gemma had been hiding, explains IB Times. Jax demanded the truth from Juice, and after learning that his own mother, Gemma, was behind Tara's brutal murder, he was resolved to killing her in revenge, even saying, "I'll make sure it's quick." However, Jax hasn't killed Gemma yet.
According to Den of Geek, the episode is comparable to "Breaking Bad's" third to the last episode, "Ozymandias" in that the two episodes showed destruction and things falling apart. For Gemma, a "literal destruction" is seen as her involvement with Tara's demise starts to be known to people she cares for. "In the end she is left with no option but to flee," Den of Geek relays.
Jax also dealt with destruction, but in the form of "internal collapse," shares Den of Geek. "He realized that everything he has done over the course of this season, every violent and deplorable act he has perpetrated in the name of vengeance, has been tragically, horribly misdirected," explains the article.
The episode was met with good reviews after earlier episodes in the season have been disappointing to some. Gemma's involvement with Tara's death has been known since the end of last season, and Jax fumbling for answers has caused some to lose faith in the series, but Hunnam's performance seem to bring back much-needed faith in the series.
Jax was seen "crying in Nero's arms like a confused child," and Den of Geek considered it "riveting," applauding Hunnam's performance.
IB Times further says that as the episode ended, Jax has been left with something to ponder on: would he follow Nero's (Jimmy Smits) advice to leave everything behind and start over to fulfill Tara's wish?
Only two episodes are left before "Sons of Anarchy" is finished, and episode 12, "Red Rose" might answer Gemma's fate.
Currently, she is hiding from Jax. A poll done by Entertainment Weekly said that 81% of the watchers of the show think Gemma will die, with actor Sagal also agreeing that Gemma would deserve it.
As for Hunnam, it is uncertain whether Jax will end his own mother's life. "It's his mother, you know. It's gonna be complicated," Hunnam states.
