WINNER's Nam Taehyun, who was recently involved in a controversy for his rude behavior towards fans in a concert, finally steps forward to say his apologies. The issue has been a hot topic online, with many netizens expressing their disappointment with Taehyun's impolite speech.
On November 24, Soompi reported that the idol said through his record label, YG Entertainment, "I apologize for the incident that occurred at the concert this past Saturday. At the time, I had been joking around with the fans on stage and comfortably greeted them."
"However, I am very sorry to those who heard and were offended. It was not a situation for me to be angry. I had only wanted the fans to think comfortably of me, but my use of informal speech has become a problem. I sincerely apologize for that. I did not think it through. Through this incident, I have realized how important each and every one of my words are. I will be more careful in the future," he added.
The issue started when Taehyun shouted "Speaking here!" in attempt to make the audience silent as WINNER's leader Kang Seungyoon is speaking, after their performance in the GS& Concert 2014. In the video, Even Seungyoon was visibly surprised by his fellow member's use of words and the way he said it.
Following the event, Nam Taehyun's impolite speech became a trending topic on sites such as Nate, Naver, and Daum.
According to Daily Kpop News, YG Entertainment further explained that the fans of WINNER are used to informal speech whenever the group is holding events such as fanmeetings and concerts.
Local media outlet reported that the idol also offered a personal apology saying, "To the fans, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I also thought of members for causing this and I thought I have to apologize quickly. I want to do the ment like that of a friend joking to my fans whom I like but suddenly it became a debate so I feel ashamed."
Taehyun added, "Now that even WINNER's too much friendly approach could cause debate like this, I will be more careful in the future."
The GS& Concert 2014 was attended by other K-pop artists including Psy, Ailee, Girl's Day, and SISTAR.
