After the Cleveland Cavaliers went on a four-game losing streak that put them well below .500 mark last week, LeBron James went on saying "I stink" and that the team was "fragile". Heading into Wednesday night's match up against the surging Washington Wizards, James said that the team needed to bring it out from the gate and that's just what they did when they crushed the Wizards to a 113-87 win at their home.
James narrowly missed a triple-double with 10 rebounds and eight assists along with 29 points. He sat the final 7:52 with victory already guaranteed. This was the second game where he scored 29 points after pronouncing that he stinks.
Per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com on Jame's stellar performance against Washington:
James used 14 shots and went 14-of-17 from the foul line to get to 29 points against the Wizards. He said prior to the game that Washington did "whatever (it) wanted) against the Cavaliers in 13-point win over the Cavaliers Friday -- tonight the opposite was true.
LeBron was aggressive from the get go, going to the free throw line eight times in the opening quarter. The team managed to offset the Wizard's stingy defense by pushing the ball hard on makes or misses. It was a total team effort on both ends of the floor.
"We played basketball the right way," James said per ESPN's Game Recap. "We shared the ball. We defended. We sustained effort for as close to 48 minutes as possible. I'm very happy and pleased with the way we've played the past two games."
The Cavalier's defense also forced the Wizards into committing seven turnovers in the first quarter that spearheaded a 30-12 start. At one point, Washington went four minutes without scoring a single point.
All-Star Power Forward Kevin Love also had an efficient night, with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting including five rebounds. Kyrie Irving also had a solid outing putting up 18 points and five assists. Dion Waiters provided a spark off the bench adding 15 points.
