K-pop fans now have more reasons to look forward to the upcoming 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards which will be held in Hong Kong on December 3, with the announcement of the second lineup of performers.
On November 29, it was revealed that male idol group INFINITE, female idol group SISTAR, and female solo artist IU will be performing in one of the most highly-anticipated music award shows of the year, Soompi reports.
The three K-pop acts will be joining the previously revealed lineup of performers including SM Entertainment's male megagroup EXO, as well as YG Entertainment's G-Dragon and Taeyang from the group Big Bang.
Koreaboo noted that the male group INFINITE had quite a good 2014 with their releases, "Last Romeo" and "Back." Fans are waiting for the debut of its subgroup, INFINITE F. The group is currently competing with TVXQ and EXO for Best Dance Performance Male Group category.
Female group SISTAR, on the other hand, had also seen success this year with their new releases "Touch my Body" and "I Swear." Both performed well in local music charts and gave the girls several wins from music shows. They are competing for Best Female Group and Best Dance Performance Female group categories.
Meanwhile, IU is competing with Ailee for both Best Female Artist and Best Vocal Performance Female categories.
Many fans are anticipating EXO's stage as it is the group's first MAMA performance without two of its members Kris and Luhan who left this year after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment. The same is true with Big Bang fans because G-Dragon and Taeyang's first collaboration as a duo unit will debut at the 2014 MAMA. Collectively called as GD x Taeyang, they will be performing the recently released track "Good Boy" on stage.
MAMA 2014 will be held on December 3 at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena in Hong Kong. According to Daily Kpop News, it is the largest music award in Asia, attracting large numbers of attendees. Hosted by CJ E&M, the award show gives recognitions to top Korean music artists for the past year.
