It appears that NeNe Leakes cannot escape drama no matter how much she tries to venture out from the show that made her a household name.
In the official synopsis for Season 7 of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," Bravo hinted that NeNe would be playing a central character that would disrupt Kenya Moore's progress in mending her relationships with the other women in the show, CarterMatt.com reported.
Madamenoire.com said that in the upcoming season, fans of the show will definitely see how Nene would get tangled up in the feud between co-star Kenya Moore and Apollo Nida. In the previous season, Kenya has been on the defense against Apollo's lies and have not minced her words when she compared her supposed character to that of her long-time nemesis.
In her blog, Kenya slammed NeNe and wrote, "I have been respectfully employed since the age of 14, managing to stay off a pole and out of jail. Therefore, for 20 plus years I have been around the block working. NeNe cannot say the same. I will no longer tolerate the thinly veiled insults aimed at my virtue as a woman. Several seasons ago, NeNe blatantly flirted with Peter and was greatly criticized. However, no one took her seriously because of the way she looks. Clearly, she's not a threat to anyone's marriage. Lucky for her."
NeNe, who has been known on the show thanks to her sassy one-liners and outspoken attitude, had starred in other reality shows that seemed to be her avenue in changing her brand in the industry. NeNe had starred in "The Celebrity Apprentice" and "Dancing with the Stars." From November 25 to January 3 next year, Nene plays the evil stepmother Madame in "Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella" on Broadway.
When asked about her experience in Broadway, Nene told NBC New York that it is a lot easier than in the show, were she is constantly attacked. She said, "It is hard, I'm telling you. I promise it will take everything in your body to do that. The show has definitely damaged me to the point where I don't want to make friends with new people. People who I open up, later on they turn on me once they get a raise on the show. I always think to myself, "God, these people will work for a $1.50 to do ANYTHING." I just can't do it."
