Fans of YG's Big Bang have been waiting for the idol group's next album since their last release in June 2012. This is why the recent release of the group's new unit GD x Taeyang received overwhelming response from fans. G-Dragon and Taeyang's collaboration, however, is not only the reason for VIPs (official fanbase of Big Bang) to celebrate as it was also revealed that the group is gearing for a comeback sometime next year.
In an interview with Enews, GD and Taeyang discussed their recently released track "Good Boy" and their group's upcoming return to the K-pop scene through a new album.
About the track's release, the two stated that they did not feel any pressure despite knowing that fans have been waiting for a comeback.
"I did it with a very light mindset. Since Big Bang didn't come out for a long time, I decided to come out as a way to greet the fans," said Taeyang. "I hope they can relieve their thirst for Big Bang's album in this way. Please regard it as the upcoming album's spoiler."
Furthermore, G-Dragon, who stands as the leader of the group, also shared his feelings about Big Bang's comeback after a two and half year absence. "I don't feel pressured at all about solo or unit album preparation, but I feel pressured about Big Bang's album."
"I like doing music lightly and enjoyably but since Big Bang became such a famous group, it's not easy dealing with it. I actually don't know how I should go about it. So I've been dying these days. The members don't talk about it because they don't want to pressure me," GD continued.
G-Dragon also revealed in the interview that he wants the album to contain only title songs, rather than adding tracks just to fill the album. "That's why it's been delayed and I'm sorry to the fans. But I think it's right to return with the perfect product," said GD.
Meanwhile, there is no exact date yet on the release of the idol' groups upcoming album.
According to KpopStars, Big Bang's last studio release was "Alive" in 2012. The EP included hit songs "Fantastic Baby," "Blue," and "Bad Boy." As part of their promotions, the group had a successful world tour including stops in New Jersey and Los Angeles.
In other news, the two idols will have their stage debut as GD x Taeyang in the upcoming "2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards" (MAMA 2014) where they will perform "Good Boy."
