Major Gamer Throwback: Sony Brings Back PS1 Theme For Free For Its 20th Anniversary

By

In celebration of Sony's 20th anniversary, the company is releasing a free PS4 theme that allows any gamer reminisce the very first PlayStation 1 that everyone has loved. The theme even includes the original version's start up music.

According to IGN, this theme is grey in background and you can customize the icons that you want to appear on the screen. And for all those who are very sentimental about things, the music that was first heard about 2 decades ago is about to be heard once again when you start up the console.

Right now, it is only for European PSN shops but the North America could expect it on December 3. Fans of this console could also avail it from PS3 and PS Vita.

It was back in 1994 when the first ever PlayStation was released in Japan and now everyone can look back and enjoy history right at the palm of their hands. The Sixth Axis reported that there only 12,300 of these consoles existing today. It is very rare now that gamers can't just easily buy it from retailers in Europe.

Having said that, although this theme is given free, the old school consoles will just be limited. You won't even purchase them from traditional sellers. You will have to do some extensive research to actually get a copy of these limited edition gaming consoles from Sony.

Meanwhile, Venture Beat said that the PS4 just marked its $10 million sales gathered from around the world in just 9 months after its release. This made the console on top of the game against Xbox One and Wii U.

On that note, you can conclude that almost everybody owns a PS4 these days. And about the latest theme latest from 1994, it is specifically to be enjoyed by avid fans of the original console. You can buy them on December 6 and it is for a limited time only.
