Is Benedict Cumberbatch appearing in "Avengers 2"? Multiple reports are suggesting that the British actor, who is tapped to play Stephen Strange in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" solo movie, will be introduced in "Age of Ultron."
The Inquisitr wrote that the reshoots ordered by Marvel for "Age of Ultron," which will be done in January, had given the indication that Cumberbatch's character is soon to meet the rest of the Avengers. The site wrote, "... [it would be] more likely that Benedict Cumberbatch will have his debut in Captain America: Civil War. This is still only speculation, and Cumberbatch could still debut as just a "nameless" surgeon in the Avengers: Age of Ultron reshoots."
Moviepilot said that although this might be just a rumor, his closeness with the rest of the cast and studio employees and his being a huge fan of Marvel might just convince studio execs to make the cameo a possible reality. Moreover, the actor was spotted visiting the studio along with "Sherlock" BBC series creator Steve Moffatt. It is also suggested that Cumberbatch's character might be introduced as a mere Stephen Strange in the post credits scene, just like how they unveiled Josh Brolin as Thanos. Comicbook.com also pointed out that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Howard the Duck were also introduced in the same way.
Meanwhile, a behind-the-scenes bonus footage of "Age of Ultron" was published on Monday on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" Facebook page, TIME magazine noted. The clip could be seen in the special "Guardians" DVD available this holiday season. The clip features new characters Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and director-writer Joss Whedon.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will hit theaters on May 1st next year. Marvel also released a Blu-Ray edition of "Guardians of the Galaxy" on December 9.
