New details of the upcoming remake of the hit 80's "Ghostbusters" movie have been revealed in the latest Sony email hacks and they include Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt teaming up and Bill Murray potentially being sued by Sony.
In this report by The Daily Beast includes new information on the Sony email hacks regarding the reboot of "Ghostbusters" starring an all-female cast and a possibility of a spin-off with Channing Tatum and the Russo brothers trying to make a deal with Sony.
The new Sony email hacks details Channing Tatum's plans to do a "Ghostbusters" spin-off movie with Chris Pratt. The email itself actually comes from co-president of production for Columbia Pictures, Hannah Minghella to Amy Pascal and other Sony executives.
The email highlights and outlines Tatum's plans and desire to make a movie with Chris Pratt together and use the "Ghostbusters" spin-off movie to be the "vehicle" of that plan. Tatum also states he wants to reinvent the movie franchise itself and comparing it to Nolan's iteration of Batman.
The Russo brothers, namely Anthony and Joe Russo were also interested in making this plan a reality by being the producers of Tatum's "Ghostbusters" spin-off movie plan.
In related news the upcoming reboot directed by Paul Feig who is known for directing the movie "Bridesmaids" and the movie is reportedly expected to be released in 2016.
The emails which were sent from Sony Pictures' co-chairman, Amy Pascal detailed a number of interesting new information about the movie and that included trying to sue Bill Murray who was part of the "Ghostbusters" movie franchise and originally played Peter Venkman, who is one of the main casts of the movie.
According to this report by TheDailyBeast, an email was sent from the head of Sony Pictures Entertainment's legal department, David Steinberg, to Leah Weil, who is Sony Pictures Entertainment's general counsel on October 31, 2013. The email details Sony's plan to use "'aggressive' litigation counsel" to make sure Bill Murray will join in Paul Feig's remake of "Ghostbusters".
The email also wanted it to be kept discrete since Bill Murray is a well-loved and popular actor and might hurt Sony's reputation if this plan goes public.
The email reads, "In order to more fully evaluate our position if Bill Murray again declines to engage on 'Ghostbusters', AG requested that we identify 'aggressive' litigation counsel with whom we can consult to evaluate our alternatives and strategize".
