'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' Is on Google Play... And It's Free!

By

If you're waiting for "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" to make it to theaters, here's something that'll help pass the time.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" is free on Google Play right now. FREE!

Android Central spotted the freebie early yesterday- as well as the fact that those in the UK get a different free offering, "Sherlock Holmes."

It's still up- right at this very moment (at least, at the time of writing this sentence), "The Fellowship of the Ring" has a price of "Free" on the Google Play store. It's a big deal- not only because free stuff is always great, but because normally "The Fellowship of the Ring" runs a whopping 13 bucks when not on sale.

Snatch this one up now even if you're not interested in the conclusion o "The Hobbit" movies- it's a solid film and you can always watch it later. Did we mention it's free?

BGR has a few extra tidbits of "Lord of the Rings" sale info- Google Play is apparently offering the other two films in the series for a reduced price. Both "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" are available for just $6.99, as opposed to the usual ten bucks.

And those at BGR, like us and presumably everyone else, have no idea when this sale ends, so it's in your best interest to act quickly while you still can.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" was first released in 2001, kicking off what's become more than ten years of films based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. It's rightly been hailed as one of the greatest (also: largest) fantasy films of all time.

Check back soon for any more sudden and unexplained sales of "Lord of the Rings" films.
