'True Detectives' season 2 will have new cast thrown into the show, and one of the names that are getting the attention of the fans of Nic Pizzolato's drama anthology original series is Rick Springfield. As of the moment, his role is not yet known and some are skeptical about his being part of the show and this led others to guess his character and why.
Last Wednesday, Springfield announced his involvement on the show. He also hinted that he will be working with Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams who are set to play as law enforcement officers and so that may suggest that he could be assuming a similar role.
Eight episodes "will focus on three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."
"It takes place in California -- not Los Angeles, but one of the much lesser known venues of California. And we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place much like we did in season one," says Pizzolatto on The Hollywood Reporter.
The penultimate season will track the murder of a California city manager, with a cast led by Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro), McAdams (Detective Anil Bezzerides) and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh), Enstarz reported.
The Guardian thinks that behind-the-scenes of the series is equally interesting. Created and written by the relatively unknown Nic Pizzolatto, and with all eight episodes directed by Cary Fukunaga, True Detective felt both unusually focused in its aesthetic vision and impressively sustained in its execution, right up until the divisive finale. Yet it was mostly overlooked at the Emmys, and even among its many admirers, there is a growing feeling that it was so bro-focused, there was very little left for its few female characters to do except complain or get naked.
