Spider-Man May Join the Avengers! Marvel Approaches Sony About Spider-Cameo in "The Avengers: infinity War"

By

That Marvel wanted Spider-Man for "Captain America: Civil War" is now a matter of public record. And it would have been amazing (so amazing) but sadly it's probably never going to happen. Sony took the deal off the table, and Marvel's got to start filming "Civil War" soon if they want it in theaters by 2016.

But this whole Spider-Man debacle might not be over yet- the newest reports point to something else. Not necessarily Spidey in "Civil War..." but in "Infinity War," maybe.

Val Broeksmit has been publishing all kinds of Sony hacked emails on Twitter, has a particularly juicy one. In the email, a Sony executive reveals that the "Civil War" talks are basically kaput, but that Marvel has now asked for Peter Parker to appear in both "The Avengers Infinity War" films, premiering in 2018 and 2019. The plan (at least from the email) seems to be that Sony would create an all-new Spider-Man, scrap the one that's currently in the "Amazing Spider-Man" films, and allow him to exist in both Sony's and Marvel's films.

But is this really possible? Well, Yahoo UK seems to think so- given Sony's recent crumbling in the public eye- from the constant hacks to their cancelling of "The Interview" after terrorists threatened all theaters showing the film, they may need a boost, and a public truce with Marvel might be the way to go about it. People do love comic book movies, after all.

Of course, Screen Rant also thinks it's still possible to get Spidey in the next "Captain America," and if that's the case it's basically a shoo-in that he'd appear in "Infinity War."

As long as we get Spider-Man in the MCU, that's all that matters.

Check back soon for the latest news on Marvel and Sony's battle for the fate of Peter Parker.
