If you've been waiting for the return of History's "Vikings," here's some extremely good news for you.
And if you're a peasant living in England about a thousand years a go, here's some extremely bad news.
The vikings have returned! Or they will soon, anyway. History has announced (via Comingsoon.net) that the third season of their hit, viking-based TV series will premiere on February 19, 2015 at 10 PM ET.
The third season is set for ten episodes, and the announcement of the premiere date also came with a synopsis for the upcoming season. Read it below.
"With the promise of new land from the English, Ragnar leads his people to an uncertain fate on the shores of Wessex. King Ecbert (Linus Roache) has made many promises and it remains to be seen if he will keep them. But ever the restless wanderer, Ragnar is searching for something more ... and he finds it in the mythical city of Paris. Rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces, Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the Vikings legend in history."
Season Three of "Vikings" is set to be especially intense, as Kevin Durand is joining the series for a major role. Durand, known for his roles on "Lost" and "The Strain" (as Martin Keamy and Vasiliy Fet, respectively) will be playing a character known as "The Wanderer."
Zap2It has a quote from Durand on his role in the show.
"I go to go do three episodes."
"I had some great conversations with [creator] Michael [Hirst] that gave me a great idea, but I can't really disclose it," said Durand, refusing to reveal any more about who "The Wanderer" might be.
"To be completely honest, even after all the stuff we shot, I don't know where it's going," he later added. "I think a lot of it's left up to interpretation."
Christian Post, however, adds that The Wanderer is a character who may only appear in dream sequences.
