"The Hunger Games" films follow the books rather closely- while there have been some superficial changes (Peeta doesn't lose his leg in the films like he does in the books; the book's mutant dogs are implied to be part human- the movie's are just regular, run-of-the-mill mutant dogs).
But is that going to change? New rumors indicate that the final "Hunger Games" film, "Mockingjay, Part 2," may differ from how the final book ended. Celebeat notes that the book's ending, which flashes forward to the future of the characters, may not occur in the film.
They're citing two quotes in an article from Crossmap- the first from Jennifer Lawrence, who says outright that the film won't be doing a flash-forward.
"I'm going to be with Peeta; it's a scene in the future. But I'm not going to let them age me. I'm already 24, and this is all I can handle. I've come this far. I kept various souvenirs, my hunting jackets, the leather one and my boots. And after the last scene, I intend to keep the bow. I think I've earned it."
It's not clear why Lawrence won't let them apply old age makeup to her face, but we'll see if that sticks when they actually film the last scene. Because according to Francis Lawrence, the film's director, the final film will be sticking to the books as closely as possible.
Said Lawrence on the film's ending:
""The ending of the book and the book itself is just really important to me. I will just say that we're making the book. I don't want to give anything away or anything, but we're being very true to the book."
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1" has crossed the $300 million mark, according to Movie Pilot- the second film this year to do so (the first being "Guardians of the Galaxy").
